About
VISNUM, a former new media and advertising agency, is now the business face of me, Osman S. Borutecene. I am the founding partner of VISNUM and due to the constantly changing world, I transformed it into a legal backend for my free-lance work.
I found the name from a novel of Umberto Eco; Il Pendolo di Foucault (Foucault’s Pendulum). Visnum is an abbreviation for vis numerorum which means “power of numbers”. An arrogant name for a business that serves in the digital design, development and advertising company. Approximately a thousand years ago, there used to be people who do magic with numbers. I am not sure about whether they know 1’s and 0’s but I think it’s a nice resemblance of what IT sector tries to do today.
I am a sociology graduate with a B.A. degree. My interest into computers and digital world is a story that dates back to 1986 when I had my first computer which is an ATARI 800 XL 64k. It was an equivalent/opponent of C64 of the era. I started to do some basic things in BASIC like everybody did at that time.
To keep a long story short, I can easily tell that I celebrate my 20th anniversary in relations with computers. You would not call me a nerd though. You would rather say that I am a bit geeky and nothing more than that.
