When one door closes, another opens.
Really, I hate it when I had to post my complaints but there are two websites that makes it sometimes painfully impossible to work smoothly. One of them is Facebook and thye other is the new gmail. I tried every possible workaround. I am on Ubuntu with Firefox but it doesn’t change on any other system with any other software.
So, people obsessed with ajax, I am calling you! The world is not yet ready for this mess. Hold your horses. You are making the web unusable.
Something very useful.

The censor put by a court in Turkey months ago is still continuing. There are new bans each week, and it never ends.
I use opendns 99% of the time and therefore i am not always aware of the censorship in Turkey (this is not valid for youtube because turkish telecom prevented entering into youtube by bypassing their dns service).
When I am at a friends home, or in an internet cafe, then I realize how many sites are censored by courts. This is insane because this means courts punish us, the citizens because of something done by a person they simply don’t know or reach.
This is the truth right now in Turkey.
Dooce had a Wii giveaway a couple of days ago. I was not interested in the Wii but I am interested how Drupal handled 42232 comments.
The first comment is dated 06.30.08 - 02:02 PM and the last one is on 07.02.08 - 05:05 PM. There are hundreds of comments at same minutes. And those are just comments, this isn’t the pageview. I don’t know how was the pageview.
Here is some technical information on that: http://blurbomat.com/archives/2008/06/30/drupal-is-rad/ This is Jon’s blog. He is Heather’s husband and deals with technical stuff for the Dooce.
Good job Drupal.
Go to lively.com and check it out.
Lively is from Google labs. It provides a graphical environment for chat. I haven’t tried it yet. I logged in with my Google account, selected an avatar and selected a room but the room didn’t load (firefox 2.0.0.15 on windows vista).
Lively has a software. It only works on Windows boxes. I sense that this is the beginning of a competition between Second Life and Google. You can create your own room in lively and you can customize your avatar, I don’t know how far can you go about customization.
Maybe I’ll write more about it when I try it again.

I believe that blogs are saviors of 21th century. Most probably, blogs will improve mass administration. They have already improved democracy. Internet can be a replacement for representative democracy. And this can be achieved through blogs.
Blogs are varieties, they are tendencies.
Recently, I have achieved a goal about blogging. The goal was a decision. I have collected my effort of writing under two blogs (for English that is, for writing in Turkish, I use only one blog because Turkish media in general - also the system of education - is always a mess. It is like a mixed soup). This one is for my technical notes on web and computers. The other is for everything else.
Now, I am planning a series of posts about blogging itself. I will cover how to write better, how to choose topics, how to write in a more relaxed fashion and why that is important, etc.
Since I am very much interested in perceptions of reality, I will also look into blogging and the blogger in this perspective.
Another issue I will look into will be monetization of a blog.
I hope to cover all of them within one month.
It has been a project for me for a long while. My writing efforts were distributed to several blogs and I wanted to put them all together. I created a new blog on blogpsot: moodr.blogspot.com
I will freeze this blog and continue to post on moodr.
Okay, here is an update: I don’t want to mess my newest blog with technical notes.
I have to admit that I am geek and my new blog is not about the cutting edge of the web. I still continue to use linux, surf the web here and there to find new interesting web 2.0 things and want to blog about it.
This blog is the most proper place for me to write everything about the web itself. I decided to keep what I do here and every other thing there. Sorry for the confusion. My note to the web enthuisasts is that we are going to continue here… and the beat goes on.
